Status: Ongoing

The Digital Futures Drone Gymnasium is a new 2 million SEK Demonstrator Project which explores the potential of physical and embodied training accessories to support human-drone interaction. During the project, we will build novel training accessories that facilitate the embodied programming of drones and organise four workshops where participants are recruited to use our training accessories to train a drone. The research team will support the participants in exploring what they can train their drone to do and how they can use our training accessories to support their values and goals.

We will organise two public interactive exhibitions to showcase the different drones that our participants trained during the workshops. We will also invite a number of industry professionals, researchers, and developers to support a public conversation on how the design of drones encourages certain movements and expressions while discouraging or constraining others, the ethical implications of mobile robots, and the potential of technologies that enable healthier and richer interactions, both inside and outside the workplace.
